New Year's Eve in the Sahara: 3-Day Private Tour from Marrakech
See the new year arrive in the Sahara. We leave Marrakech on 30 December, cross the High Atlas and spend the night in the Dades Valley. On 31 December you walk in the Todra Gorge, ride camels into the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset and spend New Year's Eve at a luxury desert camp in Merzouga, with dinner, Amazigh drums, a fire and a sky full of stars. On 1 January you watch the first sunrise of the year over the dunes and drive back to Marrakech. This is our first winter as Oasis Roads, so we are welcoming our first travellers with a special opening price for bookings made by 10 November 2026.
Best for: Couples, friends and families who want to see the new year arrive under the stars of the Sahara.

1 January. Wake up early for the first sunrise of 2027 over the dunes. After breakfast we drive back west through Rissani and our home village of N'kob, along the Draa Valley and over the High Atlas, reaching Marrakech in the evening. A long but beautiful day, with stops whenever you want.
Where you'll stay
These are our usual choices. If one is full on your dates we book a place of the same standard, and you can ask for an upgrade.
Choose your dates by the stars
Your night in the dunes of Erg Chebbi is far from any city lights. On nights with little or no moon, the Milky Way stretches across the whole sky. Pick a month to see the darkest nights.
Moon phases are calculated for each night at 10 pm. Clear skies are most common from October to May.
