4-Day Saghro Traverse: Mobile Camps in Our Home Mountains
Jebel Saghro is the mountain range above N'kob, the village where Oasis Roads began. It is a land of volcanic rock towers, high plateaus and nomad families who still move their herds with the seasons, and very few travellers ever see it. You sleep the first night in N'kob, then two nights in your private mobile camp, at Bab n'Ali and on the high plateau, walking part of each day and driving the rest by 4x4.
Best for: Walkers and travellers who want real mountains, nomad families and total quiet.
Highlights
- A night in N'kob, the village of forty-five kasbahs
- The rock towers of Bab n'Ali
- Walks through the Saghro mountains
- The Tizi n'Tazazert pass
- Tea with nomad families on the plateau
- Two nights in your own mobile camp
Day by day
Driving times are honest estimates for the time behind the wheel. Stops for photos, tea and lunch come on top, and you can always ask your driver to stop.

Where you'll stay
These are our usual choices. If one is full on your dates we book a place of the same standard, and you can ask for an upgrade.
Choose your dates by the stars
Your nights in the mobile camp are far from any city lights. On nights with little or no moon, the Milky Way stretches across the whole sky. Pick a month to see the darkest nights.
Moon phases are calculated for each night at 10 pm. Clear skies are most common from October to May.

Questions about this journey
How much walking is there?
About two to four hours a day on the two mountain days, at an easy pace on good paths. The 4x4 does the rest, and the walks can be shortened.
When is the best time?
From October to May. Spring brings almond blossom and green valleys. Summer is hot, and winter nights on the plateau are very cold.
Why Jebel Saghro?
Because it is our home. Oasis Roads began in N'kob, at the foot of these mountains, and we know the families, the paths and the best places to camp.
What is a mobile camp?
A private camp that travels with you. Our crew sets up your tents, real beds, bathroom tent and kitchen before you arrive, only for your group.
