6-Day Sahara Tour from Agadir: Merzouga, Dades and N'kob
The desert journey without rushing. From Agadir we cross the Anti-Atlas to Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Dades Valley and walk in the Todra Gorge. Then two nights in the dunes of Merzouga, with a full day to explore the desert. On the way back we stop for a night in N'kob, our home village of kasbahs at the foot of Jebel Saghro, before returning to the coast.
Best for: Travellers based in Agadir who want the full desert journey at an easy pace.

Day by day
Driving times are honest estimates for the time behind the wheel. Stops for photos, tea and lunch come on top, and you can always ask your driver to stop.

Pick-up in Agadir and drive east through the Anti-Atlas, past the saffron fields of Taliouine and Taznakht, a town of carpet weavers. In the afternoon, a walk through the ksar of Aït Benhaddou. Night in Ouarzazate.
Day 2Ouarzazate – Skoura – Roses Valley – Dades Valley
Ouarzazate – Skoura – Roses Valley – Dades Valley
Through the palm oasis of Skoura and the rose town of Kelaat M'Gouna to the Dades Valley, with time for a walk among the red rock formations. Night above the valley.
Day 3Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga desert camp
Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga desert camp
A morning walk in the Todra Gorge, then on to Merzouga. Camels into the dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset, dinner by the fire and a night at the camp.
Day 4A day around Merzouga
A day around Merzouga
A full day in the desert: a nomad family, the Gnawa musicians of Khamlia, the market town of Rissani and the dunes by 4x4 if you like. Second night at the camp.
Day 5Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – N'kob
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – N'kob
Sunrise over the dunes, then west through Alnif, known for its fossils, and Tazarine to N'kob, a village of more than forty kasbahs at the foot of Jebel Saghro. Walk through the palm groves with us and spend the night in a kasbah guesthouse.
Day 6N'kob – Agdz – Taznakht – Agadir
N'kob – Agdz – Taznakht – Agadir
Along the Draa Valley to Agdz, then west across the Anti-Atlas through Taznakht and Taliouine, back to your hotel in Agadir in the evening.

Your night in the dunes of Erg Chebbi is far from any city lights. On nights with little or no moon, the Milky Way stretches across the whole sky. Pick a month to see the darkest nights.
Moon phases are calculated for each night at 10 pm. Clear skies are most common from October to May.
