Ourika Valley day trip from Marrakech
The Ourika Valley is the closest green escape from Marrakech. The road follows a river into the High Atlas, past Berber villages, to Setti Fatma, where a path climbs to a series of waterfalls. It's an easy and relaxed day, and it works well for families.
How the day goes
Pick-up in Marrakech and drive into the valley, with a visit to a traditional Berber house for tea and bread.
Arrive in Setti Fatma and walk up to the first waterfalls with a local guide. The path is rocky in places.
Lunch at one of the river terraces, with your feet almost in the water.
Back to Marrakech, or continue up to the Oukaimeden plateau in season.

Questions
Ourika or Imlil?
Ourika is closer, easier and more about the river and the waterfalls. Imlil is higher, quieter and better for walking in the mountains.
Is the waterfall walk safe for children?
The first waterfall is fine for children with good shoes. The path higher up is steeper and rockier.
Can we do Ourika in half a day?
Yes. A half-day trip covers the valley and the first waterfalls.
