Atlas Mountains day trip to Imlil
Imlil is a mountain village at the foot of Toubkal, which at 4,167 metres is the highest peak in North Africa. It's the easiest way to get out of the city and into the real High Atlas: walnut trees, terraced fields, mud-brick villages and clear mountain air.
How the day goes
Pick-up in Marrakech and drive south through the Asni valley, with a stop to look over the Atlas villages.
Walk with a local mountain guide through the villages and fields around Imlil. The walk takes 2 to 3 hours and can be gentle or longer, as you prefer.
Mint tea and a home-cooked lunch in a Berber house or a mountain guesthouse.
Time to rest on a terrace with a view, then the drive back to Marrakech.

Questions
Is the Imlil walk difficult?
No. The walk is adapted to you. It can be an easy stroll between villages or a longer hike with more climbing.
Can we climb Toubkal in a day?
No. Climbing Toubkal normally takes two days with a night in the mountain refuge. Ask us and we can plan it.
What should we wear?
Comfortable walking shoes and layers. The mountains are cooler than Marrakech, and cold in winter.
