Agafay desert sunset from Marrakech
The Agafay is a stony desert of rolling hills just outside Marrakech, with the snowy High Atlas on the horizon. It's not the sand dunes of the Sahara, but it's a beautiful taste of the desert when you don't have time to go further.
How the day goes
Pick-up in Marrakech and drive south-west into the Agafay hills.
A camel ride across the hills as the sun goes down over the desert and the mountains.
Dinner at a desert camp, with music around the fire.

Questions
Is Agafay a real desert?
Yes, a stony desert, not sand dunes. For the big dunes of the Sahara, you need at least 2 to 3 days.
Can we stay overnight in Agafay?
Yes. There are lovely camps with tents and pools, and we can book one for you.
Is it good for children?
Very. It's close to the city, and the camel ride is short and gentle.
